The animals keep us pretty busy, so we grow a limited selection of vegetables here at Carlton Farms, therefore we work directly with good friends of ours; Mitch and Elisabeth Lawson of Rise-N-Shine Farm (seasonal vegetables), Delano Community Farm (seasonal vegetables), Brian Heatherington of Beech Creek Farm (seasonal vegetables, peaches, & apples) and Corey Ellison of 411 Farm (seasonal Vegetables) to bring you the best vegetables available. I consider each of these farmers among the best in the business. I am sure by utilizing each of their strengths we will be able to provide one of the best and most diverse vegetable share programs in Atlanta. We will also be growing a few of the items you receive right here at Carlton Farms.
Is Everything ORGANIC?
This is the most commonly asked question and, yes, all of the vegetables are grown organically. Some are certified organic and some are not, but they are all grown organically. The Apples and Peaches are grown using a integrated pest management protocol in which many methods are used to control insects, and spraying may be used as a last resort. This is the best there is out there for those fruits in the south. Be assured they are fresh picked, Local, and tasty, and they are grown by a very organic minded farmer.
How Many Vegetables Do I Get?
This is the hardest question to answer because each week there will be an average of 5-6 different vegetables. Usually a share is enough vegetables for a family of 2 adults several vegetable dishes each week. You will probably be able to share some with the kids if you are so inclined. Each week we post a picture of that weeks share on our Facebook page.
